Sun Salutation both A and B is the foundation of one’s practice. Our breathe ignites us and guides us though the vinyasa. Part of the uniqueness of these series is how it will engage all large and small muscle groups. It is known as the awakening series according to the theories of Baron Baptiste. It is the way we show honor to ourselves and gratitude to the life the sun gives us and awakening ourselves for what lies ahead in our practice and our lives.
The benefits of Sun Salutation A and B are endless. It is natures energy boost. It is believed that our core is linked to the natural energy of the sun. By completely 3-5 rounds of sun A’s and B’s, we fire up our core and re-energize ourselves. During the Awakening series engage our entire core, hamstrings, build shoulder strength, increase blood circulation, and massage your organs. Both flows allow our spine to flex in all ranges of mobility.
Sun Salutations A and B can be used as a gentle flow, warm up prior to exercising or its own cardiovascular by holding the poses longer. Incredibly, this flow can give you the opportunity to explore all aspects of your physical body and spiritual mind.
I give you a challenge over the next 10 days, instead of waking up and reaching for your phone, computer or coffee. Spark up your morning by completing 10-12 Sun A’s and B’s. Feel the flow and self-evaluate what benefits you received, acknowledge what has improved both in body and in mind.
