![]() I have worked with a lot of clients over the years regarding nutrition and dieting and I feel the biggest struggle is deprogramming their mindset and helping them create a positive relationship with food. I have had clients on every diet plan created, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach, and Akins, just to name a few. This yo-yo cycle of don’t eat that, eat this, avocados are bad…no they are good, gives mix message and is detrimental in creating a healthy and positive relationship with food. Food is fuel, we need it to survive physically. It is the way our body maintains homeostasis. However, more importantly, food is emotional. We eat it when we are happy, sad, scared and anxious. It is a constant comfort that no one can take away. We create holiday traditions around this, but yet when in this constant state of dieting, food becomes a punishment for what we have done wrong. By eating whole, non-processed foods, we take away the diet and begin a lifestyle of healthy choices. We don’t have to take away food, instead we add in, better ones. Ones that fill us both physically and emotionally. By taking ownership into the preparation of our food, the instant reward is what we are eating. We no longer have to hide in our bedroom binge eating pizza and watching Netflix, instead we can walk around the farmer’s market, taking in the freshness, re-teaching our brain that food is GOOD. Years and years of dieting can do a number on a person’s success in losing weight and keeping in off. Creating a lifestyle of healthy foods in a lot of work. It takes time and energy. It takes planning and patience. It takes will power and perseverance. It takes loving yourself more and holding yourself accountable to only you and no one else. Free yourself from the bullshit, practice instant forgiveness for choices made and move the fuck on. You didn’t get to where you are now overnight, it took time, be patient with yourself and begin living the lifestyle you deserve.

"Instant forgiveness and move the fuck on" love this. A lot of the time you see the extremes with dieting, it's an all or nothing type mentality. Many people while "dieting" as soon as they eat something that's considered "bad" they think they blew their diet and fall of the wagon. What people should realize is if they have a good solid base of eating whole, non processed foods it then allows them to be flexible to enjoys those treats once in awhile. Like your qoute says "I'm not dieting, I'm changing my lifestyle", eating is a lifestyle and one that should be embraced and enjoyed. I think what you said in your blog is perfect. "Free yourself from the bullshit, practice instant forgiveness for choices made and move the fuck on"
