![]() Inflammation is an everyday occurrence in our bodies. Whether we are running a ½ marathon or building a house. Any physical stress causes swelling in our tissues that creates pain. As uncomfortable as that it, it is our bodies way of dealing with such stressors or injury. Chronic inflammation of the joints is known as arthritis. There are many studies now being done on how food, herbs and spices can help with our everyday aches and pains. We can begin to decrease the amount of Advil taken and replace it with Omega-3 fatty acids or you guested it turmeric. This blog will be part of a series where we will look at several natural anti-inflammatories. The research is mixed on how these common house hold spices work but, it is very promising for us in the future as we continue to learn more. Turmeric: You may be familiar with this spice as it is bright in color and found heavily in Indian Food. It is used very often in curry giving that delicious dish its yellowish color. Curcumin found in turmeric is what gives turmeric it’s magically healing powers. It is also known for its anti-tumor and antioxidant properties. In one study, they found positive results in both pain management and mobility by those you took the spice supplement as directed. More studies according to the research article below, needs to be done regarding if similar affects can be found with those suffering with arthritis.
