So, I have been doing a lot of reading about putting a word, a single word to your year. Then, place another word onto the Year to come. At first I thought, could I do this? Capture my year in one word. It came a lot easier than I thought...but my word by all interpretations was negative. I don't think my year was all bad. So, I decided to apply my word to a yoga flow and continually return my my word throughout my hour long practice. What I found, was that my word indeed changed, I released my doubts and fears of 2018 and saw what I made possible.
I would like to share my hip opening flow for you and hopefully you too can see what is possible. Begin with a 10 minute meditation, Find a comfortable seat, quiet your mind and settle into your breath. I found a seated hero pose I did a series of neck stretches. I then bound my hands behind, interlaced my fingers I folded into rabbit pose. I walked my hand back and moved into camel pose. Counter in child's pose. I pressed into table and extended into tiger pose. I paused in tabletop then moved through cat and cow tilts and settled into down dog. I lifted my right leg into a low runner lunge paused here then moved my hands to the inside and into lizard. ( It was here my word shifted first) I brought my right foot to center and came into nose to knee. Gently, I brought both feet together I swept my hands to the sky and found my mountain. Transitioning now through a high to low plank and back to down dog. I repeated this on the left and paused in mountain again. I chose tree for my balance, focused on opening into each hip. (This is where my word changed a second time) Finally, worked through one more vinysana, found pigeon and double pigeon on each side. (this was my third shift) I enjoyed an extended savanasa. I closed my flow and returned into a comfortable seat and thought of my new for 2019. I am hoping to keep all of these words close to me as they are my journey forward.
