​Why jump on the BCAA bandwagon?

BCAA’s are the next new topic in the fitness world.  Branched Chained Amino Acids or BCAA’s are called that because of the way they look.  They create a side chain of 1 carbon and 3 hydrogen atoms.  The 3 BCAA’s leucine, isoleucine, and valine.  Leucine has the most physiological benefit.

BCAA’s provide the foundation for protein synthesis and increased energy production.  BCAA’s can make up 1/3 of muscle protein needed for repairing muscles post workout.  Without a doubt BCAA’s are very beneficial to everyone.   

BCAA’s are the only amino acid not processed in the liver or stomach.  BCAA’ s go right into the blood stream.  Drinking BCAA’S before training can lower lactate levels and improve muscular oxidation.  BCAA’s increase production of Growth Hormone.  GH can increase muscle growth and repair.  BCAA’s decrease muscle fatigue and promotes recovery.  Lastly BCAA’s are important to muscle tissue because it helps maintain blood sugar levels called glucose homeostasis. 

In a nutshell, BCAA’s can help manage body fat, repair muscles, and balance glucose levels.  Just be careful when buying your BCAA’s they can often be filled with artificial flavors and diet sugar.  Read the labels and do your own research before buying.  Below is a link outlining the top 24 brands giving a a numeric score on label accuracy, product purity, nutritional value, safety and efficacy.
